On April 3, Global Strategy Lab Director Steven Hoffman gave a presentation at the Socio-Legal Studies Association Conference at the University of Leeds, UK. The presentation was titled, “Did the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control reduce global cigarette consumption?”
Hoffman discussed the role that international law can play in improving health outcomes, and the importance of collecting worldwide tobacco consumption data to evaluate the effectiveness of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.
This presentation was based on the Global Strategy Lab’s upcoming publication titled "Did the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control Reduce Global Cigarette Consumption? Quasi-Experimental Impact Evaluations Using Interrupted Time-Series Analysis and In-Sample Forecast Event Modelling”, which is coauthored by Steven Hoffman, Mathieu Poirier, Susan Rogers Van Katwyk, Prativa Baral, and Lathika Laguwaran.
