On June 19 and 20, GSL Research Fellow Prativa Baral participated in the in the WHO Science Division workshop on expert groups in Geneva, Switzerland. As part of its transformational process, the World Health Organization is establishing a new Norms and Standards Department to provide guidance, support, and quality appraisal of all WHO norms and standards products. These information products are scientific or technical in nature and provide guidelines on a specific topic or intervention.
The workshop congregated key experts on advisory committees - or expert groups - from around to world to review existing practices, assess areas for improvement, and determine appropriate standards, in order to improve health outcomes globally. GSL’s expertise in advisory committees was of particular relevance to this workshop.
You can find more information on GSL’s findings on scientific advisory committees published in a special issue last year, here.
