GSL Director Steven Hoffman, former GSL Post Bachelor Research Fellow Elliot Gunn, GSL Investigator Susan Rogers Van Katwyk, and Stephanie Nixon published a study on CIHR's global health research funding in the Canadian Journal of Public Health.

The article titled "Systematic analysis of global health research funding in Canada, 2000–2016" analyzes Canada’s long-term global health research funding trends by investigating all research grants awarded by the Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR) between 2000-2016. As a result, the study found that Global Health research has seen a steady increase in CIHR funding, explores the division between grants stemming from open competitions versus strategic priority-driven competitions, and identifies that the greatest concentration of funding goes towards health equity research.
