Trygve Ottersen BSc MD PhD is a Faculty Associate at the Global Strategy Lab; Executive Director, Management and Staff for Health Services, Norwegian Institute of Public Health; Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Oslo; and Executive Director at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health. He directs the Oslo Group on Global Health Policy at the University of Oslo (www.med.uio.no/ghp).
At the Global Strategy Lab, Trygve primarily works on the project entitled Strengthening International Collaboration for Capitalizing on Cost-Effective and Life-Saving Commodities (i4C) and the subproject that addresses strategies for achieving global collective action for health. Trygve’s research interests cover several areas of global health policy, including health systems strengthening, global health security, and development assistance. Alongside research, he has over the last years worked with the Norwegian Committee on Priority Setting in the Health Sector; the WHO Consultative Group on Equity and Universal Health Coverage; the Centre on Global Health Security at Chatham House; the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria; and the UN Special Envoy on Ebola.
